First ever MAC purchases

I was never really into the whole MAC makeup hype at first and just though they were a little over rated and i would rather stick to my drugstore lipsticks that are just as good, which i still do, don't get me wrong, but there's just something so nice about having a MAC product in your collection, or several, you know what ever floats your boat. The more makeup the better in my opinion!!

Starting with Modesty (on the left) which is a creme sheen finish, meaning it leaves a very nice satin finish on the lips. It's quite a pinky brown nude which i feel complements any skin tone amazingly and is easily paired with a smoky eye or even a very neutral basic makeup look. Nudes lipsticks in general are great to have in your stash as they are almost always fault free, and can easily pull together your look.
Syrup (in the middle) is a lustre finish so it's quite a sheer color, but still adds a little something to the lips and is probably why i reach for it on a daily basis. It has a very silk smooth texture which i am always a fan of and sits really nicely on the lips. In terms of longevity it does need topping up throughout the day because it is so satiny so does tend to fade away, but i don't mind it because i really like the color.
Last up is Mehr (on the end!), the perfect color for this time of year with its reddish brown hues. Although being a matte, i don't find it dries my lips out at all and i do tend to have quite dry lips, and it's also surprisingly quite moisturizing and very easy to put on as it doesn't tug and glides on effortlessly, and being a matte it lasts pretty well. I quite like to pair this with my everyday makeup to just add a little something. Very very nice!

I really don't think the swatches of the lip products do them much justice, so i recommend you go to a MAC counter and check them out because after all it is all about personal preference!

And here we have MACs infamous soft and gentle highlight, which i tell you, is all worth the hype in my opinion! So unbelievably pigmented that even one swipe will give you that fleeky highlight! So beautiful and not chunky or glittery in the slightest. I myself am a highlight fiend so i put this on all of the high points of my face which include the tip and bridge of my nose, cheekbones, brow bones, above my eyebrows, on my cupid bow and on my chin! Told you i was a fiend! And you only need a teeny bit of it, so there is not doubt it will last you a pretty darn long time! So the £25.50 payed for this definitely will not be something to regret, and if you are just obsessed with highlight as i am, i would 100% recommend this!

My go to Lipsticks

Hi guys.
Today's post is going to be on my go to current lipsticks, and lipsticks that i generally tend to reach for on a daily basis. They are in no particular order but some i may gravitate towards just a little more. lets go!

First up is the MUA lipstick in shade 11. This is a pinky, browny nude and in my opinion is so stunning and flattering on any skin tone. It's very smooth and silky on the lips and being someone who has lips as dry as the Sahara dessert at times, this really isn't drying in the slightest. One downfall however is that it isn't very long lasting and does require quite a few touch ups throughout the day.

Next up is Blush Pink by the brand soap and glory, who are famously known for their body care products. However apart from that, they do have some pretty damn good makeup products and this lipstick being one of them.
For starters it smells pretty amazing, and as for the formula its has a very creamy, buttery texture that sits oh so comfortably on the lips while also being quite moisturizing, It also leaves a satiny/semi-matte finish on the lips, which i am all for. It's a little more lilac than it is showing in the swatch below, however it's not obnoxiously lilac to the point where it wouldn't be daytime appropriate, rather it has quite a subtly hint of lilac, which i am a fan for the colder months.
Here we have MAC infamous syrup lipstick. The one everyone and their cats rave about, and they're definitely not wrong to as it is everything i would have imagined it to be. Now i'm not going to lie, i wasn't the biggest fan of this when i first go my hands on it, simply because it was my first time trying something a little daring, but the more i wore it and as the colder months drew in, it grew on me and now i carry it with me everywhere!
As i am sure a lot of us know MAC lipsticks smell incredible, this one included. This again sits very nicely on the lips, and AGAIN has a satiny silky texture! As you can tell this is a very common theme amongst my lipstick choices, and i guess the main reason is because, as i mentioned before, my lips can get awfully dry, and now as its winter they need a lot more moisture. And in regards to the lipstick, if you are wanting to step out of your comfort zone a little this would be a great starting point.

Sleeks Dare, the most matte lipstick i have come to own, which is pretty drying. Now i know i previously mentioned that i have very dry lips, but i don't actually wear this full whack! rather i apply a good slather of lip balm (Blistex Relief cream which is the best thing ever for dry lips. Check it out!) and then gently dab this across my lips and blend it in, so that i'm left with a stain and it just adds a little hint of color without going too crazy.

Makeup tips/advice for beginners

Okay, there are many things that I have learnt along my makeup journey (!?) on what to do and what not to do. ( bare in mind I am 17 years old).

Here are a few tips and bits of advice that i personally feel are important for beginners.....

  1. My first tip would be to watch makeup tutorials. These are going to be your best friend. They'll teach you almost everything. From how to match your foundation, to what eye looks suits your particular eye shape.
  2.  Blending is key. No matter how subtle you eye shadow is ALWAYS blend! Blending will soften the look, weather that be product on you face or eyes.
  3.  Again with the blending. Blend your foundation down your neck and into your hairline! The foundation line is never a good look.
  4. If you want to ever rock the Kylie Jenner lip, don't trace over your lips like you would tracing paper. Slowly does it. Gradually build up the intensity, and then wallah! And to make them extra pouty add either some lip gloss or highlight to the center of your lips, or you could just have the alternative of adding a plumping gloss.
  5. Match your foundation as best as you can to your neck, always using natural lighting. If you find it difficult ask for help, because a little help never hurt anybody...
  6. Feel free to experiment. Makeup is supposed to be a fun thing. And yes you might wear it with the intention of enhancing your features and concealing your imperfections, but that doesn't mean to say that you can't have fun. Experimenting will allow you to change up your look depending on your mood and how you feel, and will give you an idea on a look you feel comfortable with.
  7. Don't feel like you always have to splurge to keep up with the newest makeup trends. There are tons of dupes that you can find in either boots or superdrug for a fraction of the price, and that are almost identical.
  8. Eyebrows, in my opinion, should always be on fleek! (or as on fleek as eyebrows get). Brows frame your face and give you so much more dimension. Find a brow shade that is about 1-2 shades lighter than your actual brows to give them a softer appearance. Also the tone of the shade you choose should be given consideration. If you have reddy tones in your hair then a warmer eyebrow shade should be good, and if you have more ashy tones in your hair then a cooler shade should work well.
  9. Best application for your makeup doesn't mean you have to spend hundreds of pounds on brushes or sponges. Ebay do amazing brushes that you can find here.
  10. If you have good baby skin, there really is no need for you to slap it all on. Trust me, when you get to my age and spots have taken over your face, you will then realise how lucky you are! If needs be add a little concealer hear and there, dash of powder, fleeky brows, and your DONE! (if only it was that easy for me now :/)
  11. If you have oily/combination skin like me, a good primer like the body shop insta blur, and powder to carry around will serve you well! (either the Rimmel stay matte, which can be a little faffy, or Bourjois healthy balance powder)
What a random number to end at! LOL
Hope you enjoyed this post. By no means am i an expert so my advice might now be as on point or relevant to some, but i hope it was a good read anyway. If you have any tips for me then feel free to comment them, as i am still also learning. And leave some constructive criticism too. Follow. Like.Comment. And whatever the hell else you can do!

And Wahay for two blog posts in a row!!!! :D

Beauty Wish List: Summer Edition

Summer is now officially upon us, even though England does have its dreary cold weather at times, it is pretty much summer!
And hot weather calls for SPF, lighter makeup and fresh smelling fragrances to add to our daily routine.
Here i have a few things that i wish to add to my beauty stash.....

Elizabeth Arden Eight hour cream (£26):

I have heard nothing but praise and good things about this product, and have wanted to get my hands on it for the longest time, and hopefully that'll be sometime soon.
This can be used for almost anything, whether that be chapped lips (which i want it for because Dayyum!!) hands, elbows, windburn and also for grooming eyebrows! What!?

Maybelline Dream Pure BB cream (£6.99):

This is supposed to be just like their other BB creams, besides the fact that this has acne fighting properties as it contains 2% salicylic acid and i do suffer from acne. It's a light weight, oil free formula and contains SPF 15, which for the summer is extremely important. The oil free is also an important factor on my part as i have a oily T zone, and even more so in the summer time, so the oil free should be great! However the only down side about this product is that there are only 2 shades to choose from. So hopefully one of them will match!

La Roche-Posay Effaclar Duo (£11.62):

I've heard so much about this cream, and everyone I've heard from loves it! It is specifically designed for spotty, acne prone skin but almost anyone can use it. And judging from the reviews there is hardly a bad thing about it. It is proven to unclog blocked pores and also reduce oiliness, which is right up my ally!! And i'm also sure it can be used as an all over moisturizer or a treatment. It's also a gel-cream texture, which i think would mean that i would be quite light on the skin.

Clinique Pop Lips (£16):

Now these look Delicious, and are a product that the blogging/vlogging community seem to have gone absolutely bonkers for! They scream summer but are a lip product that can be used all year round because of the large selection of shades. They are described as a weightless formula with bold color and smoothing primer. They supposedly have and velvet finish, which i am all for.
The shades that have stood out to me the most are Nude Pop, Melon Pop and Berry Pop. And apart from the lipsticks themselves, the names are just so Yummy sounding! haha

Dolce & Gabanna L'imperatrice:
This perfume to me just.... shouts....SUMMER! And as every other blogger i am awful at describing scents, so here is what the description says- "Exotic fruits giving way to a musky base for charismatic women who want to live as a movie star". I for one am all for living as a movie star, and am obsessed with fruity smelling anything. i love it! Any fruity smelling perfume i will run for, and this just appears to be one of them. Delicious!!!

So that rounds up my summer wish list. Tell me yours below or give me suggestions as to what you think i should add to mine.
Thank you for reading

Natural looking makeup!

Hi guys!
This is a look that I've been wearing for quite a while now, it's really quick and natural, and doesn't take more than 10 minutes on a morning and is great if you don't have much time, or you tend to sleep in like me!! Oops!

Products: Body Shop Insta Blur, MUA Eyeshadow in chestnut (for my eyebrows), Rimmel Natural Bronzer in Sun bronze, Bare Minerals blush in Secret , 17 phwore Paint in medium, Bare Minerals foundation in Light W15, and Rimmel Stay Matte Powder In translucent.

I start with a fresh clean face and apply the Body Shop Insta Blur to the T Zone of my face as I have oily combination skin. I then go in with the seventeen Phwore! Paint under my eyes and any blemishes I may have, which recently have been a fair few.
After this I take the Bare Minerals Original foundation on a buffing brush and apply a light layer across my whole face. I don't really like to go too heavy with this as I still want my imperfections to show through to give more of a realistic appearance.
I fill my eyebrows in with the MUA eyeshadow. It's super cheap and very effective. I feel it matches my eyebrows perfectly as they're quite dark and bushy, so it helps them look more human and not so much like a gorilla!
I apply the Rimmel Bronzer and Bare Minerals blush with the same brush as I don't feel like faffing too much on a morning. I take the Bronzer around the perimeters of my face, not so much contorting but just adding a little bit of definition, as by this time my face is looking flat and much like a pancake!
I apply the blush to my cheeks. It's a really cute pink colour which brings some radiant and life to my face. And not that I need to look any younger, as I already look like a 12 year old! But it gives a very youthful appearance to the face, and is a perfect colour for the spring/summer time.
I don't apply mascara, as I quite like the no mascara look. I guess I'm turning into Kourtney Kardashian LOL! But I really do like the look as my eyelashes are fairly long and quite dark. But if you prefer to wear mascara I recommend going with a brown, or black/brown mascara as it looks more subtle. And the Maybelline Lash Sensational mascara is INSANE! GO GET IT! It adds tons of volume and length, and is all round amazing!
As I mentioned earlier, I do tend to get oily so it is essential for me to powder my face no matter what. And for this is use the Rimmel stay matte  powder in translucent. It mattifies the face and also doesn't add any extra colour or coverage being translucent. And as you can see in the image my broke because the packaging is quite crappy, but nice powder!
And lastly for the lips I don't do anything at all really, apart from a swipe of lip balm as I get extremely chapped and awful lips. If you have the same problem I would definitely recommend the Blistex relief cream. Really really good and takes care of chapped lips in a blink of an eye!

Thankyou so much for reading and hopefully I'll see you soon x

Review- Lush mask of magnaminty

Hi I'm back!

Okay. First things first sorry for being such a fail at blogging, but I'm not sure if it's going to be consistent all the way because I'm a little (little meaning VERY) lazy! Haha oops!!
There'll probably be a blog here and there from me because I feel I have nothing to blog about because, to be honest, my life isn't the most interesting. So please leave your suggestions below!!

Anyway! Moving on from that ramble today's post is my very first review. Yay!.

I've been trying out this mask for a couple of weeks and have been really enjoying it. And as we all must know lush is all natural and cruelty free so the products are really good!
The texture of this mask is quite weird to any mask I've ever used before. It has small seeds in it that makes it quite exfoliating but in no way harsh, and  It smells really fresh and minty as it contains peppermint, which is extremely good for blemish/acne prone skin, which I definitely have!
However it also contains honey which is very gentle and soothing so it doesn't leave your skin feeling really tight and like you've about ten botox injections!
When you first apply it to your face it feels  very cool and minty, and you leave it on for 5-10 minutes and wash it straight off. The seeds being quite exfoliating but gentle at the same time get rid of all the gunk that clog the pores.
I tend to just wash it off with warm water but you can also use a hot flannel if you prefer it.
When the mask is all washed off your face feels so fresh and clean, like when you've just brushed your teeth and breathe in cold air! Hmmm!
I don't know about you guys but I looove that feeling! It feels so clean.
The end is result is you having clearer squeaky clean skin, I have definitely noticed a difference in the appearance of my skin as it looks and feels so much softer, and has cleared up my skin very well with another product that i will hopefully be doing another review on. And lets hope this time i keep to my word!

All in all this mask gets a massive thumbs up from me and I highly recommend it!

Let me know you favourite masks in the comments! x

Birthday Haul!!

On the 5th of this January I turned 17, so I thought I would show you what I got.

Starting from the left as you can see is the Original Urban Decay Naked palette! I was so excited to see this when I opened the wrapping. It has the most gorgeous pigmented eyeshadows ever. I already own the the Original Naked Basics palette, and the tones of the eyeshadows are right up my street!
The present behind it is a bird cage tea light holder (that you can't see very well because I'm not a pro photographer just yet) which is super cute and so pretty, and matches with my room perfectly!
The next is a whiskey flask ( and no, I do not drink) that my best friend got for me because she didn't know what it was but thought it looked cute! LOL
Then we have a card which in side has a cute personal message and a picture of a bunny on the front  ( PearlBunny! Duh?!)
Then we have the Nina Ricci perfume, which smells gorgeous. It's sweet with a kick of sharp zest.
The fairy lights as well as the last few presents are from my best friend, because she's a crazy girl and doesn't know when to stop. So I'll quickly skim through them.
A vanilla scented candle which smells like cupcakes, lavender scented tea lights for the tea light holder, and last but not least a mug with a ton of quirky, inspirational quotes!
Some other gifts that weren't shown is a Zara Bag that I asked for from my brother  but hasn't yet arrived (annoying!) but I'm hoping to do a what's in my bag as soon as it arrives. And the gift from my mother is paying from my Driving Lessons which I so excited but also anxious for! :D

Thank you for reading, and feel free to leave suggestions below! x
