Daily makeup routine

Today i wanted to share my current everyday makeup routine.
First thing's first, Moisturize! I personally like to use an SPF and the one that i like to use is the La Roche Posay 50+ SPF creme. Not only do i love this because it moisturizes as well as protects my skin, But because it also adds this subtle glow all over my face almost like an illuminator, which i
love, especially for the colder months.

Then onto my primer which is my holy grail at the moment. This is my Body shop insta blur which i have used for almost two years straight, and does a great job at keeping my makeup on throughout the day. I like to apply this only in my T-zone where i tend to get oily as i have combination skin.

For concealer i use the rimmel wake me up which i have also used for ages. I use this on both my blemishes, and under-eyes to brighten them up from all the sleep i don't get!

For powder i like to use the Bourjois healthy balance in the shade 52, to keep everything in place and i just do a light dusting on areas i have concealed.

My eyebrows are crazy dark, almost black, so i don't do much to them except for the tail. For this i use the two end shades in the Urban Decay original Basics pallet, which are faint and crave on an angled brush, and use the excess through the front of my brows.

I also use faint as a contour. Some may find this strange but i feel a very light, and i mean very light sweep under the cheekbones, on the forhead and below the jaw, does wonders. I also use 'naked' from the same pallet to contour my nose.
I then use the Kiko bronzer around the perimeter of my face to warm it up, using the real techniques blush brush as this distributes the product evenly around my face. And that's it for the cheeks!

For eyes i gravitate towards warm chocolatey browns blended on the top of the lid, as i feel this compliments my eyes and finishing with a coat of mascara which is the Loreal volume excess lashes. I have to say i'm not the biggest fan of this mascara, but it's just what i have at hand right now and it does the job for day-to-day wear.

And lastly for lips i slather on some Carmex because Boy do my lips need some hydration!

That's it for my makeup routine. Thankyou so much for reading this post, i hope you enjoyed!

Leeds Lantern Festival

Last Sunday me as well as some of my favorite people went to the Chinese Lantern festival, that had come to Leeds at Roundhay park after being extremely successful when it had come to London last year.
The entire park was a maze of different colored lights molded into different shapes as well as lanterns transformed into various shapes like cute Polar Bears and sets of Disney movies like one of everyone's favorites, The Little Mermaid.
The display consisted of two section. The first section being that of flowers and animals, and the second was more traditional and oriental style displays.
The whole experience was so lovely and so beautiful, i highly recommend you attend something similar if you ever get the chance.

I hope you enjoyed the photos and thankyou for reading

Gifts From my Favourite Humans

These are presents that i recently received from two of my favorite people. One being Chocaangel (i highly recommend you go check her blog out, as she is without a doubt a baking goddess!) who gifted me the Zoella lifestyle "gingerbread village" candle. This candle is the perfect scent for burning around this time of the year and smells incredible, just like gingerbread! The notes are gingerbread, vanilla, cinnamon and nutmeg. Yum!
My second gift as from the beautiful cousin who recently returned from her honeymoon in Italy, and bought me back this beautiful ornament which i am in love with. This design and colour is so beautiful, and along with that the most prettiest card i ever did see, with the sweetest message.
I hope you enjoyed this short and sweet post.

thanks for reading!

First ever MAC purchases

I was never really into the whole MAC makeup hype at first and just though they were a little over rated and i would rather stick to my drugstore lipsticks that are just as good, which i still do, don't get me wrong, but there's just something so nice about having a MAC product in your collection, or several, you know what ever floats your boat. The more makeup the better in my opinion!!

Starting with Modesty (on the left) which is a creme sheen finish, meaning it leaves a very nice satin finish on the lips. It's quite a pinky brown nude which i feel complements any skin tone amazingly and is easily paired with a smoky eye or even a very neutral basic makeup look. Nudes lipsticks in general are great to have in your stash as they are almost always fault free, and can easily pull together your look.
Syrup (in the middle) is a lustre finish so it's quite a sheer color, but still adds a little something to the lips and is probably why i reach for it on a daily basis. It has a very silk smooth texture which i am always a fan of and sits really nicely on the lips. In terms of longevity it does need topping up throughout the day because it is so satiny so does tend to fade away, but i don't mind it because i really like the color.
Last up is Mehr (on the end!), the perfect color for this time of year with its reddish brown hues. Although being a matte, i don't find it dries my lips out at all and i do tend to have quite dry lips, and it's also surprisingly quite moisturizing and very easy to put on as it doesn't tug and glides on effortlessly, and being a matte it lasts pretty well. I quite like to pair this with my everyday makeup to just add a little something. Very very nice!

I really don't think the swatches of the lip products do them much justice, so i recommend you go to a MAC counter and check them out because after all it is all about personal preference!

And here we have MACs infamous soft and gentle highlight, which i tell you, is all worth the hype in my opinion! So unbelievably pigmented that even one swipe will give you that fleeky highlight! So beautiful and not chunky or glittery in the slightest. I myself am a highlight fiend so i put this on all of the high points of my face which include the tip and bridge of my nose, cheekbones, brow bones, above my eyebrows, on my cupid bow and on my chin! Told you i was a fiend! And you only need a teeny bit of it, so there is not doubt it will last you a pretty darn long time! So the £25.50 payed for this definitely will not be something to regret, and if you are just obsessed with highlight as i am, i would 100% recommend this!

My go to Lipsticks

Hi guys.
Today's post is going to be on my go to current lipsticks, and lipsticks that i generally tend to reach for on a daily basis. They are in no particular order but some i may gravitate towards just a little more. lets go!

First up is the MUA lipstick in shade 11. This is a pinky, browny nude and in my opinion is so stunning and flattering on any skin tone. It's very smooth and silky on the lips and being someone who has lips as dry as the Sahara dessert at times, this really isn't drying in the slightest. One downfall however is that it isn't very long lasting and does require quite a few touch ups throughout the day.

Next up is Blush Pink by the brand soap and glory, who are famously known for their body care products. However apart from that, they do have some pretty damn good makeup products and this lipstick being one of them.
For starters it smells pretty amazing, and as for the formula its has a very creamy, buttery texture that sits oh so comfortably on the lips while also being quite moisturizing, It also leaves a satiny/semi-matte finish on the lips, which i am all for. It's a little more lilac than it is showing in the swatch below, however it's not obnoxiously lilac to the point where it wouldn't be daytime appropriate, rather it has quite a subtly hint of lilac, which i am a fan for the colder months.
Here we have MAC infamous syrup lipstick. The one everyone and their cats rave about, and they're definitely not wrong to as it is everything i would have imagined it to be. Now i'm not going to lie, i wasn't the biggest fan of this when i first go my hands on it, simply because it was my first time trying something a little daring, but the more i wore it and as the colder months drew in, it grew on me and now i carry it with me everywhere!
As i am sure a lot of us know MAC lipsticks smell incredible, this one included. This again sits very nicely on the lips, and AGAIN has a satiny silky texture! As you can tell this is a very common theme amongst my lipstick choices, and i guess the main reason is because, as i mentioned before, my lips can get awfully dry, and now as its winter they need a lot more moisture. And in regards to the lipstick, if you are wanting to step out of your comfort zone a little this would be a great starting point.

Sleeks Dare, the most matte lipstick i have come to own, which is pretty drying. Now i know i previously mentioned that i have very dry lips, but i don't actually wear this full whack! rather i apply a good slather of lip balm (Blistex Relief cream which is the best thing ever for dry lips. Check it out!) and then gently dab this across my lips and blend it in, so that i'm left with a stain and it just adds a little hint of color without going too crazy.

Makeup tips/advice for beginners

Okay, there are many things that I have learnt along my makeup journey (!?) on what to do and what not to do. ( bare in mind I am 17 years old).

Here are a few tips and bits of advice that i personally feel are important for beginners.....

  1. My first tip would be to watch makeup tutorials. These are going to be your best friend. They'll teach you almost everything. From how to match your foundation, to what eye looks suits your particular eye shape.
  2.  Blending is key. No matter how subtle you eye shadow is ALWAYS blend! Blending will soften the look, weather that be product on you face or eyes.
  3.  Again with the blending. Blend your foundation down your neck and into your hairline! The foundation line is never a good look.
  4. If you want to ever rock the Kylie Jenner lip, don't trace over your lips like you would tracing paper. Slowly does it. Gradually build up the intensity, and then wallah! And to make them extra pouty add either some lip gloss or highlight to the center of your lips, or you could just have the alternative of adding a plumping gloss.
  5. Match your foundation as best as you can to your neck, always using natural lighting. If you find it difficult ask for help, because a little help never hurt anybody...
  6. Feel free to experiment. Makeup is supposed to be a fun thing. And yes you might wear it with the intention of enhancing your features and concealing your imperfections, but that doesn't mean to say that you can't have fun. Experimenting will allow you to change up your look depending on your mood and how you feel, and will give you an idea on a look you feel comfortable with.
  7. Don't feel like you always have to splurge to keep up with the newest makeup trends. There are tons of dupes that you can find in either boots or superdrug for a fraction of the price, and that are almost identical.
  8. Eyebrows, in my opinion, should always be on fleek! (or as on fleek as eyebrows get). Brows frame your face and give you so much more dimension. Find a brow shade that is about 1-2 shades lighter than your actual brows to give them a softer appearance. Also the tone of the shade you choose should be given consideration. If you have reddy tones in your hair then a warmer eyebrow shade should be good, and if you have more ashy tones in your hair then a cooler shade should work well.
  9. Best application for your makeup doesn't mean you have to spend hundreds of pounds on brushes or sponges. Ebay do amazing brushes that you can find here.
  10. If you have good baby skin, there really is no need for you to slap it all on. Trust me, when you get to my age and spots have taken over your face, you will then realise how lucky you are! If needs be add a little concealer hear and there, dash of powder, fleeky brows, and your DONE! (if only it was that easy for me now :/)
  11. If you have oily/combination skin like me, a good primer like the body shop insta blur, and powder to carry around will serve you well! (either the Rimmel stay matte, which can be a little faffy, or Bourjois healthy balance powder)
What a random number to end at! LOL
Hope you enjoyed this post. By no means am i an expert so my advice might now be as on point or relevant to some, but i hope it was a good read anyway. If you have any tips for me then feel free to comment them, as i am still also learning. And leave some constructive criticism too. Follow. Like.Comment. And whatever the hell else you can do!

And Wahay for two blog posts in a row!!!! :D

Beauty Wish List: Summer Edition

Summer is now officially upon us, even though England does have its dreary cold weather at times, it is pretty much summer!
And hot weather calls for SPF, lighter makeup and fresh smelling fragrances to add to our daily routine.
Here i have a few things that i wish to add to my beauty stash.....

Elizabeth Arden Eight hour cream (£26):

I have heard nothing but praise and good things about this product, and have wanted to get my hands on it for the longest time, and hopefully that'll be sometime soon.
This can be used for almost anything, whether that be chapped lips (which i want it for because Dayyum!!) hands, elbows, windburn and also for grooming eyebrows! What!?

Maybelline Dream Pure BB cream (£6.99):

This is supposed to be just like their other BB creams, besides the fact that this has acne fighting properties as it contains 2% salicylic acid and i do suffer from acne. It's a light weight, oil free formula and contains SPF 15, which for the summer is extremely important. The oil free is also an important factor on my part as i have a oily T zone, and even more so in the summer time, so the oil free should be great! However the only down side about this product is that there are only 2 shades to choose from. So hopefully one of them will match!

La Roche-Posay Effaclar Duo (£11.62):

I've heard so much about this cream, and everyone I've heard from loves it! It is specifically designed for spotty, acne prone skin but almost anyone can use it. And judging from the reviews there is hardly a bad thing about it. It is proven to unclog blocked pores and also reduce oiliness, which is right up my ally!! And i'm also sure it can be used as an all over moisturizer or a treatment. It's also a gel-cream texture, which i think would mean that i would be quite light on the skin.

Clinique Pop Lips (£16):

Now these look Delicious, and are a product that the blogging/vlogging community seem to have gone absolutely bonkers for! They scream summer but are a lip product that can be used all year round because of the large selection of shades. They are described as a weightless formula with bold color and smoothing primer. They supposedly have and velvet finish, which i am all for.
The shades that have stood out to me the most are Nude Pop, Melon Pop and Berry Pop. And apart from the lipsticks themselves, the names are just so Yummy sounding! haha

Dolce & Gabanna L'imperatrice:
This perfume to me just.... shouts....SUMMER! And as every other blogger i am awful at describing scents, so here is what the description says- "Exotic fruits giving way to a musky base for charismatic women who want to live as a movie star". I for one am all for living as a movie star, and am obsessed with fruity smelling anything. i love it! Any fruity smelling perfume i will run for, and this just appears to be one of them. Delicious!!!

So that rounds up my summer wish list. Tell me yours below or give me suggestions as to what you think i should add to mine.
